Margaret Engle, a longtime resident of Roseburg, OR, and Sitka, AK, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the age of 97. Born in Seattle, as Margaret Stevens Marker, she was the daughter of Blanche (Free) and Arthur D. Marker of Tacoma, WA.

During the war, she met and married Leland A. Engle. In 1948, they, along with Leland’s brothers and families, moved to Roseburg, Oregon.

Margaret and Leland resided in Sitka, AK, from 1970 until 1990, where he worked in logging camps and as a millwright for Alaska Lumber and Pulp. Upon retirement, they returned to Roseburg and traveled in their motor home. After Leland passed away in 1993, Margaret remained active, enjoying sewing and quilting, taking cruises, and visiting family.

Margaret is survived by four daughters, Nancy Elliott of Newport, WA, Karen Jones of Edmonds, WA, Sherry Engle of Astoria, NY, and Marge Carpenter of Roseburg, OR. She will be missed by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, all who reside in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Texas, Virginia, and China.

At her request, there will be no service.
