Gene Steinmetz, age 72, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Monday, April 24, 2017. He was born October, 6, 1944 in Monrovia, California.
He is preceded in death by his parents Hugh Gail Steinmetz and Janet Louella Steinmetz, Brother Darl Steinmetz, and Sister Lou Steinmetz.
Gene owned and operated his own saw mill in Alaska for many years. Then moved to Oregon where he worked for various logging outfits as a logger and in his later years doing fire/equipment watched until he retired in 2007
Gene enjoyed coin collecting, playing cards (rummy and pinochle). He also loved watching game shows on T.V. and being in the woods fire watching and having barbeques with family.
Gene is survived by his Sisters; Janet Tina Leggette of Sutherlin, Oregon, and Trina Mary Koch of Oakland, Oregon. Brothers; Carl Twain Steinmetz and wife Beteena M Steinmetz of Henderson, Nevada. Nieces, Nephews and Cousins; Fay Alford, Nina Alford, Heather Koch, Chris Koch, Gary Steinmetz, Denise Silk, Donna Steinmetz and Rodney Steinmetz, and friends Buzz and Betty Harwood.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 11, 2017, at Oakland Church of Christ. Oakland, Oregon, Kristopher Tripp will be officiating. Please come and celebrate Gene’s life at 2 pm.
